Police Looking For 12 Suspects Over Football Clashes in Shah Alam

Malaysia Police have released photographs of 12 suspects believed to be linked to the violence which took place during the AFF Suzuki Cup semi-final between Malaysia and Vietnam on Sunday.
Selangor CID chief Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said his team had identified the individuals involved and were on the hunt to bring them to justice.
At least one Vietnam supporter was reported to have suffered injuries in the clash that saw Malaysia beaten 2-1 on home ground.

“We take this matter seriously as it is a crime that should not have taken place in the country.
“We have conducted the necessary investigations under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting,” said Mohd Adnan to reporters at a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters.
He appealed to the suspects to voluntarily present themselves to the police to facilitate investigations.
“During the match, we arrested nine people. Three for drug related offences and the rest for possession of flares.”

If convicted, the 12 suspects face a prison term of up to two years, fine, or both.
Mohd Adnan appealed to those with information regarding the incident or the suspects to contact the Shah Alam police headquarters at 03-55202222 or the investigation officer Assistant Commissioner Chang Sing Kong at 016-7723336.
